40" Victorian Tiled Insert
Exquisite, for sale is this beautiful, restored antique cast iron fireplace. Removed from a large period property in greater Manchester.
Carrying authentic foundry marks, it was cast between 1880- 1890. It is a wonderful example of British architectural heritage, which would typically have taken pride of place in a downstairs room or large bedroom. Generously proportioned, it is made of solid cast iron with a set of original Victorian tiles in lovely condition. (There is a small chip on the bottom left hand side tile )
The ironwork is rich with fine floral detail and a beautiful floral canopy. Similar decorative ironwork continues around the tiles.
During restoration we retained the original the grate and bars ,ash pan cover are original. Supplied with a free standing 16" fire back, final result looks superb.
We have finished the item with black grate polish which gives it a gunmetal appearance and highlights the ornamentation of the cast iron.
